I stopped by Kanasashi Farm in Ebina, Kanagawa, to try their house-made gelato. I arrived just before 1:00 p.m. on a Saturday and many flavors were already sold out—clearly a local favorite.

• Caramel: sweet with a gentle bitterness; balances the milk perfectly. Mixed bites were excellent.
